About the ingredients...
The Nitric Oxide
Nitric oxide plays a critical role in endothelial function, promoting relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and subsequent dilation, which may favourably impact blood flow and augment mechanisms contributing to skeletal muscle performance, hypertrophy and strength adaptations.
The amino acids
L-arginine is an amino acid necessary for making proteins and commonly used for circulation. It helps with muscle growth because its presence is needed for the synthesis of most proteins. When the size of a muscle increases, L-arginine sends a signal to muscle cells, which encourages the release of growth hormone and aids in fat metabolism.
L-citrulline is an amino acid found in watermelon. It is also made in the body. The body changes L-citrulline into L-arginine. Citrulline malate is a combination of citrulline with malic acid. Malic acid is found in apples, among other fruits. Citrulline malate is a direct precursor to nitric oxide. This form of citrulline can help to increase adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and availability - the fuel for hardworking muscles. Citrulline malate can be beneficial for muscular endurance and strength performance.
Beta alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is produced naturally in the body. It aids in the production of carnosine (a protein building block) and enhances performance by increasing exercise capacity and decreasing muscle fatigue. It also has antioxidant, immune-enhancing and anti-ageing properties.
Taurine is an amino acid that is produced naturally in the body. It helps to improve energy expenditure and white adipose tissue metabolism, which supports the regulation of both body weight and exercise performance time.
L-tyrosine is a is a non-essential amino acid that the body makes from another amino acid called phenylalanine. It is an essential component for the production of several important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine. As a result, it can help to increase exercise capacity in the heat. It can also help to improve focus and and concentration.
The creatine blend
Muscles use creatine to produce energy. As a nutrient, it has been extensively researched and remains one of the most popular supplements available to modern athletes.
Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise, making it a favourite with not only athletes, but also those undertaking regular exercise.
In the Workout formula, we harness the benefits of both creatine monohydrate and creatine hydrochloride.
The vitamin and mineral blend
The formula includes vitamin E, vitamin C, niacin, vitamin B12, biotin, phosphorus, magnesium and sodium. Collectively these vitamins and minerals contribute to (among other things - see full list below) the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal functioning of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise.
The caffeine
Studies have shown that caffeine can benefit endurance performance, high intensity exercise, and power sports (particularly for trained athletes).
Approved EFSA health claims:
- Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal homocysteine metabolism, normal psychological function, normal red blood cell formation, normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and it has a role in the process of cell division.
